This story is a an edited version of the podcast Advent calendar for the podcast One Hundred Words - originally presented as 24 daily stories of exactly one hundred words each in December 2021.

For the month of December 2021, 50% of profits will be going to NACCOM, the No Accommodation Network - a national network of frontline organisations and charities across the UK, working together to end destitution amongst people seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants who aren’t able to access to public funds because of their immigration status.
